No value in trusting Liverpool to deliver

LIVERPOOL have not had the chance to enjoy much Wednesday night European football action over the last two seasons, but they return to a prominence of sorts tonight as they take on FC Utrecht at Anfield. The Reds will be without David Ngog and Steven Gerrard for the match, a symptom of the fact that the game is a dead rubber with Liverpool already having won the group and Utrecht being unable to qualify. Roy Hodgson is not any position to turn down the chance of a morale boosting win however, after defeat at Newcastle on Saturday put paid to the notion that Liverpool had turned the corner. Home form has been Liverpool’s strength this season however, and with Reina, Johnson and Torres all expected to play some part tonight, a potentially sparse Anfield crowd will expect three more Europa League points. There is no argument here that Liverpool will not be likely to win, but neither is there much sense backing them to do so in a dead-rubber at a best price of 4/9.
