Trust in Stuttgart

PUNTERS looking for the home banker of the Europa League schedule tonight should look no further than VfB Stuttgart, as they host Odense BK. Stuttgart had a 100% record in the competition before a 4-2 loss to Young Boys away from home in the last round of matches, but that was before Bruno Labbadia took over the reins on Monday, and the man who led Hamburg to the semi-finals of this competition last year will expect nothing less than a win in his first match in charge. Positive words have been coming out of the Stuttgart camp all week about the contest, all indicting that players and staff are ready to dispatch Odense before focussing their minds on a league and cup doubleheader with Bayern Munich over the next week.

Odense themselves were 6-0 winners over Aalborg in their last league match before the winter break in Denmark and have taken 4 points from their last two Europa League games, a 1-1 draw with Getafe preceded by a 2-0 win over Young Boys. Both of those results came at home however, where Stuttgart managed a 2-1 success earlier in group play. Only the prize of avoiding the wooden spoon is available to the Danes, but it is unlikely they will take anything from this contest.
SELECTION –
