SPARTA PRAGUE and CSKA Moscow have been the undisputed 'overs' kings through the first five rounds of Europa League group play, and there is little reason to expect that trend to end when the two sides meet tonight in the Czech capital. In all of their European contests to this point, the teams have had over 2.5 goals in their games, with both being assured of passage into the last 32 of the competition. Indeed, CSKA’s 17 goals scored is the best in the competition, a total helped out by a 3-0 home win over Sparta back in September. However, that contest was the only game where Sparta had failed to score at least 2 goals, their last result being a 2-2 away draw in Italy against Palermo. CSKA have won all five games so far, and though the prospect of a dead rubber is enough to make anyone nervous about the style of football that might be on offer, both camps have been keen to suggest that they are interested in putting on a show. Moscow have nothing to lose in going for a perfect record in the group, while Jozef Chovanec has been keen to stress that his team are representing Czech Football as a whole every time they step onto the field – a chance to avenge a 3-0 drubbing in Moscow will be something on the minds of the hosts.
Stats can tell plenty of lies, but a perfect overs record for these two teams, coupled with both managers talking up the possibility of an entertaining game, that is free from the stifling pressures of qualification, is enough to suggest that overs is the call in this contest.
SUGGESTION –
Sparta Prague v CSKA Moscow OVER 2.5 GOALS (20/21 @ Extrabet or slightly bigger than Evs on the exchanges)
